1. Acceptance of Terms
These terms (“Terms”) govern your use of erasebackground.org and its tools (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2. The Service
erasebackground.org lets you remove image backgrounds in your web browser, one image at a time or in bulk. Processing happens on your device using an AI model that your browser downloads. We may change, add or remove features at any time.
3. Free to Use
The Service is currently free and doesn’t require an account. We may introduce optional paid features in the future; if we do, we’ll make clear what they are before you use them.
4. Your Images
Your images remain yours. Because they are processed in your browser, we never receive them and claim no rights over the images you open or download. You can use downloaded images for personal or commercial purposes, provided you have the rights to the original image.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service on images you don’t have the right to use or edit;
- use the Service to create unlawful, deceptive or harmful content, including content that infringes others’ rights;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to the website; or
- misrepresent your results as unedited original photographs where that would be misleading or unlawful.
6. Third-Party Components
The Service uses open-source software, including the BiRefNet model (MIT license) and Transformers.js. These components are provided under their own licenses, and the model is downloaded from a third-party host.
7. Intellectual Property
The website, its design, the erasebackground.org name and logo are owned by us and our licensors. Except for your right to use the Service under these Terms, no rights are transferred to you.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. Background removal is automatic and results depend on the image and your device, so we don’t guarantee that every result will be perfect or that the Service will work on every browser or device. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, erasebackground.org will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, arising from your use of the Service. Because the Service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Slovenia, without regard to its conflict of law rules, unless the law of your country of residence requires otherwise.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
